One of the core values of IMS is operating in a family environment. With that said, safety of the family should be first on the list of importance on the vessel. As in any family, the values are taught by watching and listening to our elders.

Safety is the same way on a vessel. Our crews get their safety training, attitude and awareness from their supervisors: the Captain, Pilot and Engineers.

If our Supervisors are not involved in the safety training, job briefing and safety meetings, our crews will not be invested in it either. This involves having the job briefings in the wheelhouse. Pilot and Captain, both, conducting and attending the safety meetings when applicable as well as discussing a drill after conducting and leading the drill.

A lack of interest in safety by the Wheelhouse will carry down to the crews, the same as core values of a family are carried on by our children.
